About this Webinar

For our first webinar for 2026 Matthew Askeland will share insights from an upcoming paper on the true cost of PFAS management, introducing practical soil-remediation metrics that move beyond proxy measures and cost-per-ton approaches. He places these costs in a broader risk context, comparing PFAS expenditure with other contamination challenges through real-world case studies.

Drawing on his team’s 2025 SETAC Special Series publication, Matthew explores when active PFAS intervention is justified, which tools support sound decision-making, and how robust QA/QC frameworks ensure actions deliver measurable value. The session follows the full decision pathway—from whether to remediate, to how far to go, and which technologies and validation methods provide confidence in outcomes.

Key themes include practical cost and performance metrics, emerging approaches, and technology demonstrations that together support credible and defensible environmental improvement.
